Coffee Grinder Electric I must admit, I do love my freshly ground coffee. I do already have a coffee grinder which does work very well, but the problems I have with that is that it will only grind a very small amount of coffee at a time. Another issue is that it will only work in 15 second burst due to the manufacturer stating that longer times may burn the motor out. Although the main problem I have is that the grinding pot is fixed to the machine so it cannot be cleaned with water, I have to use a small brush to remove the coffee. This particular coffee grinder solves all of those problems so it is a welcome upgrade for me. I was pleased with the quality of this when it arrived. The main unit is finished with a stainless steel outer surface which looks good and is easy to clean. On the front is a rotating dial that gives the option of 2 speeds or pulse. The main unit houses a 350 watt motor providing plenty of power. There are 2 grinding pots provided, these sit on top of the main unit and are held in place via a twist on transparent plastic lid. One pot contains 2 very sharp stainless steel blades mainly used for dry ingredients, the second contains 4 blades for wet ingredients. The instruction guide speaks of and shows a brush and cup are supplied with the grinder, but none were included in the grinder that I received. In use this works well, the grinder cup holds 3-4 times more coffee beans than my existing grinder, plus there appears to be no time restriction on it's use. It took about 15 seconds to grind the coffee down to how I like it. Cleaning up is a doddle too, once the ground coffee is removed, just rinse out under a tap. I did notice that the Amazon listing describes this as low noise for early risers and babies. I have to be honest, this certainly isn't low noise and would wake any sleeping baby in my opinion. This is a helpful grinder if you're a fan of freshly ground coffee beans for coffee, or you just need a good grinder for nuts, grains or similar foods. Various speeds with the turn of a knob, which is very easy to use and control. I'd do some testing first and be mindful about it so that you don't over grind, as it is quite powerful and can be quite quick to the job. That said, 15 seconds and it needs to be stopped to prevent the motor from failing, as per the manufacturer instructions. This is not a reassuring statement and feels like the unit could fail from something very simple. Also, this is a mains-powered only device, meaning it is home use only and you can't take it with you for outdoor purposes, such as camping. Furthermore, the wire is non-modular and always attached. For this kind of appliance, I would expect the wire to be detachable for safety purposes, similar to kettles with a detachable base or cord, which leads me to my next point. Cleaning could be tricky. If you get the unit dirty, as the whole thing is one piece, extra care needs to be taken to not get the electrical parts wet, such as the plug. Despite two separate cups, they are for different purposes, and as such, it is recommended that you don't use this for multiple things with strong flavours. Nuts are relatively neutral, so it's fine, but I wouldn't use it for both coffee and herbs and spices, the flavours will inevitably affect each other, especially when coffee flavours are so delicate and can be contaminated very easily. At £36.50, despite the flaws, it's not bad, although I expect a much more reliable unit, such as one that isn't prone to failing because I used it to grind for more than 15 seconds... For this reason, 3.5 stars, but closer to 4 stars, I guess.
