When the lights go out in the evening, the most important thing is to have visibility in the room, kitchen, and hallway. A regular mains-powered lamp won't help here, and candles or a phone flashlight are only a temporary solution. Below is what to look for when choosing autonomous lighting and which lamps and flashlights are currently in our catalog. Capacity and runtime

If the battery capacity is specified, it is given in mAh: the higher the number, the longer the lamp shines on a single charge. The runtime stated in the name or description usually refers to one of the modes — at maximum brightness, the lamp works for less time. Therefore, models with brightness adjustment are convenient for an evening without light: you can shine less brightly but for longer.

Brightness

Light brightness is measured in lumens (lm, Lm), and LED power in watts. For comparing lamps with each other, lumens are more useful: the higher the number, the more light. For reading and working at a desk, brighter and even light is needed; for a night light in the bedroom, weak light is better so it doesn't disturb sleep. For floodlights and camping lanterns, manufacturers usually indicate lumens directly in the name.

How to charge and store

It is better to charge a rechargeable lamp in advance while there is power — then it will be ready for an evening without the mains. Most modern models charge via USB-C or USB, so a regular phone charger or power bank will work. If the lamp is left unused for a long time, it should be recharged from time to time: the battery gradually discharges on its own.
